The Spišské Podhradie – town of churches is wrapped in natural environment under the Spiš Castle. Since the 13th century it was a famous busy town of craftsmen and traders. In this UNESCO locality near the Spis Castle we can find the legacy of the Jewish people from Spišské Podhradie in a beautifully Moorish decorated Synagogue and in Jewish cemetery.  On the main square you can see the Baroque Church of the Brothers of Merciful Jesus with the luxurious Baroque interior, Classicistic Lutheran Church with parsonage and the Parish Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary with Romanesque tower. 

Let’s walk around its historical centre where you will find Virgin Mary’s column and on the way to the castle stop at the medieval tollgate.  Let’s relax in the natural reserve of Dreveník where you could see a unique rock town as well as paleontological, botanical and zoological gems. Let’s visit the religious town of Spišská Kapitula with Romanesque and Gothic Cathedral of St. Martin with historical painting of the coronation of Charles Robert of Anjou and stone plastic art of Leo Albus. Let’s taste the fresh mineral water from the spring in Sivá brada and enjoy the pleasant atmosphere of the medieval town underneath the Spiš Castle, in the region with so many legends.
